BIO (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ
As an interdisciplinary media artist, musician, game maker, educator, and learner, Ahreum Lee navigates the complexities of technology, data, and socio-political narratives. Fascinated by the ritualistic use of everyday technologies, she explores their impact on socio-political dynamics and their interactions with both human and more-than-human entities. Ahreum’s work spans various mediums—including games, 3D animation, web art, sound, yoga workshops, and performance—delving into how everyday technology mediates emotions and shapes ecological and cultural systems.
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Ahreum is currently based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal, where she continues to develop her practice. She was a finalist for the Emerging Digital Artist Award, presented by EQ Bank and Trinity Square Video (Toronto) in 2019. Her work has been exhibited and performed in Montréal at venues such as Arsenal Art Contemporain Montréal as part of BIAN (International Biennale of Digital Art), Fonderie Darling, Ada x, and the Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery, as well as at Third Shift Festival (Saint John) and Axis Lab (Chicago). She has participated in notable residencies and programs, including the Emerging BAiR program at the Banff Art and Creativity Centre, the démART-MTL program at Eastern Bloc, and the Impression Residency Program at Musée des beaux-arts à Montréal.
