In an outdoor parking lot sits a parked Uhaul trailer. Playing with expectations around hospitality, audience members are invited to take a moment to share tea with CHEUNG LEE GLOBAL and to take a fortune cookie to-go. Within each gift, is a second fortune: words of advice collected from an ongoing archive they've created for BIPOC dating survival tips.

The performance will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 1-4pm, on the sidewalk outside of La Centrale galerie Powerhouse (4296 boul. Saint-Laurent). This event is accessible for people in wheelchairs.

CHEUNG LEE GLOBAL is an artist collective consisting of Joni Cheung (Snack Witch) and Ahreum Lee. Cheung is a Canadian-born Hong Kong-Chinese queer, anglophone woman currently based in Montreal since 2019. Ahreum is a Korean-born artist living in Montreal since 2016. CLG is an artist group exploring the complexities of identity in a world where the movement of people, products, money, and ideologies has become fluid.

EMMEDIA is proud to present PARTICLE + WAVE, an annual media arts festival consisting of exhibitions, screenings and audiovisual performances by local, national and international media artists, in partnership with TELUS Spark Science Centre. Over nearly a decade PARTICLE + WAVE has established itself among the most popular festivals for Alberta media artists and the arts-passionate public. EMMEDIA has developed a unique role outside of the commercial media industries, focusing on independent artists who work with technology across all genres that is experimental, challenging, interdisciplinary, performative, community-based and/or culturally-diverse. Featuring a group exhibition of 4 artworks at EMMEDIA mixing digital and analog technology, 3 installations at TELUS Spark's Feature Gallery, an immersive musical performance and 10 short films full of animation, dance, music, and collage, in collaboration with the National accessArts Centre screened at TELUS Spark's Infinity Dome theatre. This festival will showcase an art form that by its very nature, is constantly evolving and growing with the integration of ever-changing technological processes!
